rottnest-pageThis project involved the removal of the old timber jetty, and design and construction of a new galvanised and painted steel frame jetty.

Key features

• Design and construct contract.
• Conducting safe work in an A class reserve of high cultural and environmental significance.
• Mobilisation of a surveyed pile driving barge to Rottnest.
• All work completed to specifications, and within quality, time and budget constraints.

Challenges

High number of private boats in close proximity, and frequent attempts by members of the public to access the jetty from land and sea.

To address this, a traffic management plan was drawn up and implemented, in consultation with key stakeholders, and a site specific traffic and navigation approach was developed to minimize risk and disturbances to local land-based and maritime traffic.
